The Journey and the Guide
at Snainton Village Hall
About the course
How do we make the most of life? We all want to live a valuable and fulfilling life. We want our life to be our own, not predictable, boring or mapped out by others.
It is this kind of problem that the Buddha sought to solve, firstly in his own life and then, after Enlightenment, in his teaching.
On this eight-session course you’ll be guided by the Buddha’s vision in an exploration of the fundamental issues of life, facing up to them, finding a way of overcoming them, and uncovering your human potential.
Participants will receive Maitreyabandhu’s book The Journey and the Guide as part of the course
NB: there are a few Sundays when we won’t be running the Journey and the Guide sessions, as follows:
- 30 March - Mother’s Day – we’ll have a practice night for those who can come
- 20th April - Easter Sunday – no session
- 4th May - May Day weekend – we’ll have a practice night for those who can come
Who’s the course for?
This course is suitable for everyone who has completed a previous course with us, and also those who have attended day retreats with us.
Please get in touch with any questions: enquiries@scarboroughbuddhists.org
We want the course to be accessible to everyone, so please do message us privately if the booking fee is prohibitive,

Where to Find Us
Please note that this is location of this specific course (and not the Scarborough Buddhist Group)
Driving
Snainton Village Hall is on the A170, at the Scarborough end of Snainton Village, opposite the primary school.
By bus
The 128 bus leaves the Scarborough railway station at 16.40 and gets to Snainton at 5.14 - a bit too early for the course, but you could come to Mahasraddha and Upayadevi's house in Brompton-by-Sawdon and have a cuppa with us, and then walk along to the village hall (less than half a mile). Get in touch if you want to do this.
Unfortunately there is no bus back to Scarborough at the end of the evening - but we can help organise lifts, a few people have offered.
