Scarborough Sangha Weekend Retreat
Saturday 23 November 2024 – Sunday 24 November 2024 at Snainton Village Hall
This weekend retreat for the Scarborough Sangha will be based on the Buddhist practice of the Four Brahma Viharas also known as the Four Divine Abodes.
In practising the Brahma Viharas, we engage with, and develop, rich and innate qualities of the heart: a non-judgmental loving-kindness, the clarity of compassion, the delight of genuine happiness and true joy, and the wisdom and balance that comes from equanimity.
The Brahma Vihara meditations help free us from the limitations and constrictions of ill will, jealousy, restlessness and agitation, expanding our perspectives and leading to the heart’s release.
The retreat will give us the opportunity to practice together as a Sangha, and to enjoy one other’s company in a supportive and relaxing environment, in which we can be fully ourselves and connect with what is of deep value to us. The retreat programme will be spacious and by the end we hope all will feel rested, uplifted and inspired.
The retreat will be led by Mahasraddha and the Scarborough Team, along with visiting teacher Saddhanandi. Saddhanandi’s name means 'she whose happiness is dependent on faith or confidence-trust'. Down-to-earth and with a great depth of practice, Saddhanandi is looking forward to spending time with the Scarborough sangha once again, following her visit earlier in the year.
It's non-residential retreat, so everyone will go home to sleep on the Saturday night, but we'll have 2 full days together, starting with morning meditation each day.
All meals on Saturday are included, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
